Monadnock Regional School District Mourns Passing of Longtime Teacher

Deb Morris has been a teacher at Monadnock Regional Middle High School since joining the district in 2007.

SWANZEY — Superintendent Lisa A. Witte regrets to announce the death of longtime and beloved Monadnock Regional School District teacher Deb Morris.

According to a family member, she suffered a sudden medical emergency Sunday. Deb was 68 and had taught at Monadnock Regional Middle High School since 2007.

Deb most recently served as a math teacher at the middle school level. Classes were canceled Monday at the Middle High School out of concern for the well-being of students, faculty and staff members.

School district leaders are working to make grief counseling resources available to all students and staff who need them Tuesday and beyond. Additionally, families of current students in Mrs. Morris’ classes were notified directly of her passing and made aware of resources to support their children.

“Deb was an incredible person and a cherished member of the Monadnock community, and we are devastated by the loss,” Witte said. “We are committed to honoring her memory, celebrating her life and supporting our students and colleagues during this difficult time.”

Services and arrangements have not yet been announced.
